Akshay Kumar joins Vidyut Jammwal on ‘India’s Ultimate Warrior’

Focus, Control, Determination, Balance, Discipline – these characteristics are what truly define a warrior! As a nation, India owes its rich heritage to the might of many selfless warriors who fought for the honor of this country.

In an ode to true yoddhas and the ancient tradition of Indian fighting forms, Discovery Network is set to bring a one-of-a-kind reality show, India’s Ultimate Warrior, to premiere on Discovery+ on March 4th.

Hosted by one of India‘s prime action superstars and top martial artists, Vidyut Jammwal who is making his debut as a Dojo Master, the show will also have OG Khiladi Akshay Kumar as an honorary Dojo Master in the third special episode premieres March 11 on Discovery+ and March 16. on Discovery Channel.

In a bid to give India its next “Mahayoddha”, the series will have dojo master Vidyut commanding a “battle camp” with mentors namely – Shifu Kanishka, whose love for the arts martial arts allowed him to create his own style Shifu Kanishka Combatives, Shaun Kober, a former rugby player who served in the Australian Army, Bi Nguyen AKA Killer Bee, an expert in Muay Thai, one of the toughest martial arts in the world and Mykel Hawke, a former U.S. Army Special Forces officer. Each mentor would guide and train 4 students, as they complete the most daunting challenges and most wanted tasks to become the ultimate winner.

As the Dojo Master for the show, Vidyut Jammwal said, “It was rewarding for me to play the role of host as the Dojo Master, especially because I experienced this topic. Putting the students through a certain set of hurdles that required mental toughness to be able to perform the physical feats was the idea behind the show when I started training. With a one-of-a-kind concept, combined with extensive and well-researched challenges ranging from Kalaripayattu to Krav Maga, the show promises a visual offering that is unique and unheard of in the reality genre in India.

“I was 9 years old when I started practicing martial arts and I owe everything I am today to this art form. When Discovery + contacted me to be part of the Ultimate Warrior of India around fighting disciplines as a guest I was immediately intrigued by the same India’s Ultimate Warrior stands out in the reality genre for its intention and authenticity and I’m sure the series will spark positive reactions from the audience,” said Akshay Kumar while appearing on the show as a special guest.
