The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (Jipmer) in Pondicherry was at the center of controversy on Monday May 9, with the DMK, part of the c-led opposition in the union territory, organizing a massive protest. The protest was against a recent circular issued by the famed hospital, insisting that staff use Hindi in official communications.
