Come you minds

VScome you spirits are delighted to be the first professional theater company in years to rekindle The Haven amphitheater in Castlecrag with Romeo and Juliet and macbeth from Tuesday 21 to Sunday 26 June 2022.

Which are Come you minds?
Come you minds is an acting collective based in Sydney’s Lower North Shore and touring NSW giving new voice to the greatest stories of our time. Full of dynamic rhythm, movement and complex characters, the performances of macbeth and Romeo and Juliet are opposite in narrative but equal in life-affirming statement. Fast, furious and full of heart. We have taken a unique approach to performance – uniting ancient tradition and the core human energies of heart, masculine and feminine, motivation, truth, vision, our connection to the land and pursuit. of something bigger.

How do you use sound in the shows?
The soundscape takes the audience on a journey. The actors are amplified to allow full vocal range in the performance and the loudspeakers in the space are supported by large flat reflector sheets of wood constructed which resemble the monoliths of Stonehenge. These are positioned at specific points that maintain the principles of sacred geometry and temple building.

How will plays work at The Haven Amphitheatre?
The Haven is magical and enchanting. Romeo and Juliet will take place during the day and macbeth In the evening. Tuesday, June 21 marks the solstice and this first performance will take place at sunrise. The intense burst of sunlight at dawn activates the space and releases serotonin in everyone’s brain, your joy hormone, expelling melatonin, the sleep hormone. When this happens at a show like Romeo and Juliet being performed for you in nature, you buzz with vitality.

For the evening shows we have our own lighting, candles, torches and hopefully a fire pit as well. Celebrating the natural landscape, most of the play takes place in space, with actors moving at different levels among the audience, including the accessibility area on the road, which is actually part of the performance space. appointed.

By having only four actors playing four characters telling the full story of both plays, it means the narrative is streamlined. Viewers who have seen our shows say they have felt equally invested with all four characters, not just the protagonists.
