The Reinga Pats have announced their leadership group for the 2020-21 season. striker born in 2001 Logan nijhoff (150 GP, 26B, 31A) was named captain, while the defender born in 2000 Kyle walker (163 GP, 8G, 24A with Everett and Regina), defender born in 2001 Ryker evans (108GP, 8G, 34A), striker born in 2000 Carson Denomie (198 GP, 35G, 51A with Kamloops, Moose Jaw and Regina) (at home) and striker born in 2002 Drew Englot (56GP, 12G, 6A) (outside) have been appointed alternate captains. The Spokane Chiefs have announced their leadership group for the 2020-21 season. 2000-born onwards Eli zummack (233GP, 61G, 156A) was named captain, while the striker born in 2001 Adam beckman (132GP, 80G, 89A), striker born in 2002 Jack Finley (131GP, 28G, 49A), defender born in 2000 Matt Leduc (153GP, 4G, 21A) and striker born in 2001 Cordel Larson (125GP, 22G, 35A) were appointed alternate captains.

Before Jayen luypen Named WHL Player of the Week and Goalkeeper Brayden peters was named the WHL Goalkeeper of the Week. Luypen of the Edmonton Oil Kings scored two goals and added an assist in a home and away game with the Medicine Hat Tigers. Peters recorded the WHL’s first shutout of the season in a 2-0 win over the Calgary Hitmen on Friday, March 5.

Before Brayden Tracey (123GP, 58G, 86A with Moose Jaw and Victoria) has been reassigned to the Royals from the San Diego Gulls. Tracey is a 2019 NHL first-round draft pick by the Anaheim Ducks. In 12 games this season with the Gulls, Tracey has been seen as unnecessary. Last season, in 52 games split between the Warriors and Royals, Tracey scored 22 goals and added 39 assists.

DUBNetwork’s own Rod pedersen and Darren Dupont will be featured in all 22 Regina Pats games broadcast on AccessNOW in Saskatchewan. The duo will begin with the Pats’ season opener on March 12 against the Prince Albert Raiders. This starts a nine-game schedule in March on AccessNOW. 13 games will be broadcast in April, ending April 27 against the Winnipeg ICE.

Before Reese johnson (187 GP, 55G, 45A with Red Deer ’14 -’19) has been reassigned to the Chicago Blackhawks taxi team from the Rockford IceHogs. Johnson has played three games with the Blackhawks this season, remaining useless. With the IceHogs, Johnson had an assist in four games. Johnson is a signed and undrafted prospect for the Blackhawks.
Miner and Mutala return to WHL, Woods signs pro try, Lewis recalled from Grizzlies

goalkeeper born in 2001 Trent Miner (69GP, 41-20-5, 2.56GAA, .909sv% with Vancouver) and striker born in 2001 Sacha Mutala (198 GP, 59G, 75A with Tri-City) were returned to their respective WHL teams by the Colorado Eagles. Miner was 2-3-1 with a 2.86 goals-against average and .903 save percentage in six games with the Eagles. Mutala has played four games registering an assist. The two players are not signed by the Colorado Avalanche who drafted them in the 2019 NHL Draft.
Before Riley Wood (230GP, 75G, 105A with Regina and Spokane) signed a pro test with the Colorado Eagles. He has already played five games with the team, scoring once and adding two assists. He also played 14 games for the ECHL Utah Grizzlies, scoring four goals and adding 12 assists.
Before Ty lewis (190GP, 84G, 107A with Brandon ’14 -’18) was recalled by the Colorado Eagles from the Utah Grizzlies. In five games with the Grizzlies, Lewis has collected seven assists. Lewis has also played four games with the Eagles this season, he remains useless. Lewis is a Colorado Avalance prospect.
Schneider would have headed to the University of Alberta

Goalie Nick schneider (202GP, 96-76-15, 3.42GAA, .891sv% with Regina, Medicine Hat and Calgary ’13 -’18) would join the University of Alberta Golden Bears. The 23-year-old goaltender spent the 2020-21 season between the AHL’s Stockton Heat (1 GP, 0-0-0, 1.38 GAA, .938 sv%) and the ECHL Kansas City Mavericks (39 GP, 13-20-3, 3.49GAA, .882sv%).

Goalie Taran kozun (135GP, 64-52-15, 2.73GAA, .912sv% with Kamloops and Seattle ’10 -’15) was traded to the Wheeling Nailers by the Allen Americans. Kozun hasn’t appeared in any game for the Americans this season, but has played for the Kansas City Mavericks, Indy Fuel, Rapid City Rush and Orlando Solar Bears. The Nailers will be his sixth team this season, including five for which he has adapted. He has also been a member of nine ECHL teams, having previously been part of the Missouri Mavericks, Utah Grizzlies and Manchester Monarchs. The ECHL record for teams played by a goalkeeper in a season is six.

Before Stelio Mattheos (253GP, 127G, 151A with Brandon ’14 -’19) was reassigned by the Chicago Wolves to the Fort Wayne Komets. Mattheos has appeared in six AHL games this season, collecting two assists. This will be the first time the 21-year-old forward has played in ECHL. Mattheos is a 2017 third-round pick from the Carolina Hurricanes.

Before Garet Hunt (193GP, 16G, 25A with Vancouver ’04 -’08) signed with the Wheeling Nailers. Hunt is yet to play this season after a stint with the Kunlun Red Star in 2019-2020. While with the KHL team, Hunt collected one assist in 28 games. Hunt is the all-time ECHL leader with 2,666 penalty minutes, spread over 702 games with the Stockton Thunder, Alaska Aces and Jacksonville IceMen. He also scored 102 goals and 142 assists.

Before Ryan gropp (258GP, 117B, 137A with Seattle ’13 -’17) signed a contract extension until the 2021-22 season with Vasterviks IK of HockeyAllsvenskan of Sweden. Gropp is a second-round pick for the New York Rangers in 2015. In 14 games this season, Gropp has six goals and two assists.
