DC Dr. Bagadi Gautham inaugurates the Tibet Museum in Bylakuppe

Bylakuppe: Mysuru DC Dr. Bagadi Gautham officially inaugurated the Tibet Museum here.

This museum is a public-private partnership initiative between the Tibet Museum Dharamsala managed by the Central Tibetan Administration and the Khavachen Bylakuppe Foundation of Tashi Wangdu.

The museum will consist of two main parts: photo exhibits linking Tibet’s past, present and future, and Tibetan artifacts.

Photo exhibits showcase Tibet before Chinese occupation, Tibet under Chinese occupation, Tibetans in exile, Tibet today, its future vision, the timeline of Tibet and the destructions under Chinese rule, among others .

Tibetan artifacts include religious objects like mandala, incense burners, prayer wheels, butter lamp trumpets, bell, dorje (vajra), cymbals, blessing pots, conch shells, religious texts, etc. It will also include household items such as tea churn, kettles, wine vessels, Tibetan pots, cups, tinder bag with flint, amulets, etc. Other items like slingshots for raising yaks, shoes, Tibetan dice game, etc.

The museum also displays the passport of independent Tibet, postage stamps, currencies, etc. and traditional dresses from three provinces of Tibet. The Museum will also have a section on Tibetan medicine.

Chemi Dorjee, TDL Representative, Lobsang Yeshi, Lugsam Representative, Jigme Tsultrim, Chief Representative, Bangalore, Choephel Thupten, Member of Tibetan Parliament and camp and NGO leaders were present on the occasion.
