Indo-Tibetan Border Police Jawan shoots himself to death in central Delhi

An alleged suicide note was found in his bed in which he accused his wife and stepfather of mentally harassing him, officials said.

A 31-year-old jawan from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) deployed for security duties at the Teen Murti Bhavan here allegedly shot himself using his duty rifle on Sunday, officials said. Constable Y Reddy was found dead around 5 a.m. with his INSAS rifle lying beside him, they said.

Reddy was from Karnataka and had returned from a 30 day leave about two weeks ago. An alleged suicide note was found in his bed in which he accused his wife and stepfather of mentally harassing him, officials said.

The jawan got married in October last year. The mountain warfare-trained ITBP is primarily deployed to guard the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China and many of its units are deployed to maintain law and order in various parts of the country, including in the national capital.
