St. John the Evangelist Catholic School continues to perform above the national average in several subjects

Valdosta, Georgia – Saint John the Evangelist Catholic School (SJCS) recently received the results of its fall MAP tests. The school conducts tests three times a year, in the fall, winter and spring, to measure the performance and growth of its students from grades one to eight in the areas of reading, reading, use of language and science. The fall 2021 MAP test results show that SJCS students perform above the national average in all four areas: math, reading, English / language arts, and science. Historically, SJCS students scored 5.83 points higher than the national average in math, 11.06 points higher in reading, 11.12 points higher in English / language arts, and 10 points higher in science.

SJCS – Grade 4 Science Class – Ms. Lineback’s 4th grade class recently created food webs to show how energy flows from organism to organism in an ecosystem.

“Since the MAP testing began three years ago, our students have consistently scored higher than their national peers in all four areas, for every session we administer,” said Vito Pellitteri, Director of SJCS. “Our students are given a solid foundation in all major subjects, as well as Spanish, technology and religion and the test results show how hard they work and what they accomplish. I am extremely proud of our teachers and students who continue to excel and uphold SJCS’s reputation for developing high performing students.
