Vinayak Chaturti 2022: Vinayak Chaturthi is also known as Varad Vinayak. Vinayaka Chaturti is considered one of the most auspicious days among Hindus. Chaturthi is observed twice a month during which Sankashti Chaturthi falls in Krishna Paksha and Vinayak Chaturthi falls in Shukla Paksha. Vinayak Chaturthi is the day dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Vinayak Chaturthi will be observed on Chaturthi Tithi i.e. the fourth day of Choukla Paksha in the month of Ashadha. This month, Vinayak Chaturhti will be celebrated on Sunday, July 3, 2022.

According to Hindu scriptures, Lord Ganesha is regarded as Pratham Pujya, the god who is worshiped first before any other god and the one who removes all obstacles from life. Lord Ganesha is also known as Vighnaharta. A large number of devotees observe fasting and offer prayers on this auspicious day to honor and please Lord Ganesha.
Vinayaka Chaturthi (vrat) fasting is observed to remove all evil effects from life, and devotees lead happy and prosperous lives by pleasing Lord Ganesha on this day. It is believed that people facing obstacles in their lives should observe this fast (vrat) and offer modak, laddo, clothes and other delicacies to Lord Ganesha.
Vinayak Chaturthi 2022: Vrat Rituals
1. Devotees should wake up early in the morning, take a bath and wear clean clothes.
2. Devotees should place an idol of Lord Ganesha, light a diya, offer yellow flowers or vermilion yellow flowers, kumkum, durva (green grass), which is Lord Ganesha’s favorite grass.
3. People should offer laddoo or modak to Lord Ganesha.
4. Devotees should chant Lord Ganesha Mantra ‘Om Shree Ganeshaye Namah’ before performing pooja, one should recite Vinayak (Bindayak) Katha and Lord Ganesha Aarti.
5. Devotees, who cannot observe fasting on this day, can visit Lord Ganesha temple and do abhishekam with panchamrit (milk, sugar, honey, curd, ghee) and offer laddoo or modak to Lord Ganesha.
6. Devotees can break their fast in the evening after offering prayers and bhog prasad to Lord Ganesha. The bhog prasad should be satvik (no garlic or onion).
7. There is a great meaning of the moon in this fast (Vrat). It is believed to offer water (Arghya) to the moon.
8. Devotees can break their fast (Vrat) after offering water (Arghya) to the moon.
9. People should break their fast by having a satvik meal (fried potatoes, sama rice khichdi, fruits and dairy products).
It is believed that people who observe this fast with great devotion and dedication, Lord Ganesha blesses them with happiness, prosperity, good fortune and wealth and removes all bad effects from devotees’ lives. It is also believed that childless people should quickly observe and please Lord Ganesha on this frightened day. Lord Ganesha fulfills all the desired wishes of the devotees.
